Approximately 500 friends and benefactors gathered together at the Crowne Plaza St. Paul Riverfront Hotel to honor Archbishop Emeritus Harry J. Flynn, who celebrated fifty years in the priesthood. Following a silent auction and Gala Dinner, Mother Theresa Gertrude was privileged to present Archbishop Flynn with the first “St. Jeanne Jugan Award” for his dedication and devotion to the Little Sisters, not only in the St. Paul/Minneapolis Archdiocese but nationally as well.Archbishop John Nienstedt, Honorary Chair, offered beautiful remarks about St. Jeanne Jugan, her work and mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor. Power Point presentations highlighted the work and mission of the Little Sisters and Archbishop Flynn. He responded with his usual graciousness and Irish humor. The evening concluded with a live auction and a “Fund the Need” appeal. The Little Sisters are most grateful for the committee members, staff, and many volunteers and benefactors who made this Gala so successful. Proceeds helped defray the cost of the recent chapel renovation project.
