On February 11 we welcomed Rev. Juan Miguel Betancourt of the Servants of the Eucharist and pastor of St. Francis deSales Church for a special service for the sick. The celebration began in the chapel with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, time for silent reflection, a decade of the rosary and the Litany of Compassion for the Sick, after which, Father blessed each one individually with the Blessed Sacrament. Father also went to the second floor to bless the infirm Residents. Those present found this service to be very reverent and quite emotional. Some of the Residents commented on the beauty of the Blessed Sacrament in the monstrance and the power radiating from it. Lucille Porter, a 99+ year old, questioned exactly what the Blessed Sacrament was. When told “this is Jesus coming directly to you,” she commented, “I am very unworthy, and I desire Jesus even more than before.”
