On the weekend before Thanksgiving, Holy Family Residence in St. Paul holds its annual Christmas Boutique. It is always an enjoyable occasion that brings the extended family and friends of the Little Sisters together for two days of fun, good food and a holiday shopping spree. Behind the scenes, however, it takes a multitude of workers to “pull it off” successfully. Staff, volunteers and Association Jeanne Jugan members worked very hard to make the weekend a great success. New items this year that added to the excitement of the day were the “Hot Diggity Dog” food stand to complement the other meal options offered and the Little Sisters’ Winery. Folks were able to purchase a numbered cork which corresponded to a beautifully wrapped bottle of wine. The Winery proved so popular that all wine sold out by Saturday Evening! Our excitement was doubled on Sunday when the final Grand Raffle ticket was sold. Over three-hundred packets of dry soup mix were packaged for the famous French Market Soup, samples of which were offered in the Gourmet Section of the Boutique. Many enjoyed visiting the Christmas Shop, craft area and the lovely tea room where they had the opportunity to listen to a recitation of Tom Hegg’s, A Cup of Christmas Tea. Unique gift baskets were a great buy for friends and family. Of course one could not leave without adopting a doll or two from the doll orphanage, bringing home a homemade bakery item and having a delicious ham dinner. Many happy faces were observed as people left the Boutique toting their bundles and anticipating the coming season of giving.
