A “Pressing” Story

  • April 25, 2014

Pictured here is one of our special volunteers posing with another volunteer while they “press” the Little Sisters’ habits, veils, and chapel linens. Marian Hanigan came to the Little Sisters a year and a half ago to offer her skills in any area that was needed. When she was asked if she liked to iron, her response was, “Yes, I do. I will help wherever you need me the most.”

Dinner and a movie anyone? No, Marian enjoyed dinner and an iron to top off her day! Marian came every Monday evening just after her full-time job in downtown St. Paul to have dinner with our Residents, then ironed for the next two hours. She and the Residents enjoyed each other over dinner; Marian was interested in their lives and they were very much interested in her work and upcoming marriage. Marian’s last day at the Little Sisters was Monday, April 14th; her last day at her job was Friday April 18th; her wedding is May 3rd. Marian and Matt, will live in Kansas City where they will both volunteer at our Kansas City Home. Husband-to-be, Matthew, is already a volunteer there. We pray for God’s abundant blessings on their new journey together. Kansas City, here they come! You are indeed fortunate to have them join forces with you.
