Diversity Celebration

  • November 16, 2016

Diversity describes the similarities and differences that people have such as race, ethnicity, gender and age and also encompasses differences and similarities in knowledge, perspectives, points of view and more.

An important part of understanding diversity that is often overlooked is that it includes similarities as well as differences.

Understanding that we have similar interests or beliefs can help us become better: a better team, a better neighbor, a better Sister.

Appreciating our diversity enhances the emotional and spiritual life of our Home and helps us work better to the benefit of our Residents.

On October 17, the Residents, staff, and Sisters of Holy Family Residence celebrated our interdependence and our commitment to our common mission, while promoting respect for each other as extraordinary individuals.

We wore native dress, sang and danced. We shared stories and lots of wonderful ethnic food, which was prepared by our employees. It was an amazing celebration of who we are and where we came from and a reminder of our individual gifts and how very much we have in common.
