It isn’t every day we are honored with the presence of Archbishop Emeritus Harry Flynn! We were delighted to have him come to Holy Family Residence to celebrate Mass on Easter Sunday. Additionally, the archbishop welcomed 22 Residents into the Holy Family Association. Twenty-two new members!
For one and one-half years, due to illness in the Home which kept Residents in their rooms for a number of weeks, and due to several moves in the Home and bringing new Residents into the Home, we were unable to hold the initiation services earlier, thus 22 new members. It was an absolute joy watching Archbishop Flynn placing the medals on the new members. He even commented several times how he could lose weight going from one to the other seeing as the Residents were in different areas of the chapel. He would say, “Oh my, here we go over there, and now we are going across the chapel.” Back and forth the archbishop moved in the chapel until he had placed the medals on all 22 Residents. Indoctrinating Residents into the Holy Family Association is something the archbishop takes great pleasure in doing, and something we enjoy having him do.We are very grateful.
