Lenten Charity

  • March 29, 2018

Lent is an opportunity to make greater efforts to love one another, especially the poorest and weakest members of our human family. As the season of Lent comes to a close it is beautiful to see all the acts of kindness. The sacrifices made help us to grow in our faith.

Some people practice putting money in a jar every time they use a curse word or give in to gossip. The money is donated to a charity. Many individuals go out of their way to do good deeds for people who may be difficult to deal with. Others participate in special prayer groups for our world’s needs. Monetary and food collections help the poor. The son of one of our Residents, Marie Zech, made the sacrifice of shaving his head in support of kids with cancer.

There are countless acts of charity that people do to help their brothers and sisters in need. May their sacrifices of almsgiving during Lent and throughout the year lead them closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ.
