The Great Minnesota Get-to-Gether, the State Fair, one of the largest in the country, had big-time competition at the Holy Family Residence recently.Granted, several Residents and staff were able to board the big bus and travel to the fairgrounds to experience first-hand the taste of a myriad of foods, the smells of the cooking and farm animals, the sounds of children laughing and politicians campaigning, the sights of the midway rides, the colorful booths and the monorail zooming overhead for a bird’s-eye view. However, back at the Home, several events took place for all to join in the “Fair Spirit.” These included a State Fair Parade featuring entries from the different floors and departments, the State Fair Bake-Off, specializing in favorite recipe creations by staff members and judged by residents, and a traditional State Fair meal consisting of several foods on-a-stick. The day ended with the crowning of the State Fair prince and princesses from the staff who were selected by the residents. A good time was had by all!
