T’was a Great Day for the Irish

  • March 29, 2012

St. Patrick’s celebration began a week early at Holy Family Residence with a visit from the Gallivanters, a favorite St. Paul music group, Mr. Pat and the Shamrock Princesses. The rousing party, filled with music and Irish treats, was a festive day to be remembered by all.

On the l7th, the warm weather with a light breeze, quite unusual for this time of year, was fantastic. Following our annual ritual, Residents, staff & volunteers boarded our bus and headed downtown to take part in the Grand Parade. The streets were full of everything green and in many areas, people were lined up seven rows deep along the parade route.  Over 100,000 people filled the downtown area. After the parade we returned home to enjoy a traditional St. Paddy’s Day meal of corned beef and cabbage. The day concluded with everyone participating in an Irish sing-a-long featuring the Gems.
