St. Agnes High School senior, Charlie Turch, learned the value of giving through “Project Joy.” Because of the generosity of an anonymous donor, all fifty-three seniors were given $1,000 each to in turn donate to a local charity of their choice. Students were required to research their selected charity in order to assure that its mission was in line with the mission of St. Agnes School and the principles of the Catholic Church. They were also encouraged to choose a charity that had a connection to their life or the life of a family member. Charlie elected to present his $1000 to the Little Sisters of the Poor because his family has supported Holy Family Residence in the past and he liked the mission of the Little Sisters.
We are grateful to have been recipients of “Project Joy” and we hope that others learn and remember the “joy of giving” to those in need not only during the holidays but all year long.
“What would you do with $1,000?”
